I had no sales experience and relied heavily on marketing creativity to presell people because I wasn’t comfortable in sales presentation especially considering that I was selling some very large ticket items and I came from a nerdy non social engineering background. However when people called me through my ringback number that was setup like that, the respect in their voices was palpable. Busy businesses and professionals would make so much more money if they always kept great records on all incoming and outgoing calls. Yet honestly it is difficult to remember to do this when you are pulled in 50 kazillion ways. Take me. I am a real estate broker with multiple agents. I am secret agent man. I am also a dad working from a home office. I have calls coming from every which way and taking advantage of leads is so difficult. How would you like it if you got an email the second an incoming call comes in. The email could include information and notes on the contact who has called, which the phone application has pulled from your contact manager. For me my gmail window is always open. So I would see that and make notes in a reply email as I talk. Then when the call is over I just hit send and the notes are parsed and input automatically as a new note record in your CRM/ contact manager. That way at the beginning of the call you are given notes, and by the end of the call you make a note with out ever having to open your CRM and actually look up that contact.
In addition to recording your notes on a CRM, there are many other options. For instance you could record calls and attache the link to the recordings in your CRM notes. You could also have the calls automatically dictated and emailed to you. You could have call times and lengths recorded in the CRM notes. There are legal and ethical issues with recording calls. But most states allow phone call recording with only one party having knowledge. When you are training a new sales person. It is so important to be able to record conversations so that he or she can go review those and get actual feedback as to how he or she is doing. We could easily record conversations on all phone calls and then post links to the audio to CRM notes for that contact. Or they could be simply emailed. Again another way advanced telephone setups can save you money and increase your income.
SMS messaging is hot. Local retail businesses especially are using SMS messaging almost exclusively to drive triple digit increases in sales. The reason SMS messages are so successful is that unlike email, promotional SMS messages are gotten instantly and have almost a 100 percent open rate. An SMS compared to email is like a postcard vs a letter.

- Keep people on the list by not spamming them by giving them texts they want to see. It will take trial and error to know what your list wants to see and how often they want to hear from you. Experiment and you will get feedback. People always like special discounts. Depending on the crowd the like to here occasional news as well.
- Make it easy to sign up and put instructions to sign up everywhere. In store signs. On your website. On your emails. On receipts. On bags. Everywhere!
